Dan Ettinger , music director of the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon Lezion and of the Israel Opera, is also the music director of the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, chief conductor of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, and was recently appointed the music director of the "San Carlo" Opera House in Naples, Italy. Ettinger served as the musical director of the Mannheim Opera House, conductor of the Berlin State Opera "Unter den Linden" and assistant to the musical director, Daniel Barenboim, and was principal guest conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra - Israel Broadcasting Authority, house conductor of the Israel Opera and conductor of the Israel Opera Choir.
Dan Ettinger regularly conducts many opera productions in leading opera houses in the world: the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the New National Theater in Tokyo, the Royal Opera "Covent Garden" in London, the National Opera in Paris. He also conducted at the Mariinsky Opera House, St. Petersburg at the "Classic in the Red Sea" festival, at many productions at the State Opera in Berlin and the New National Opera, as well as at the opera houses of Los Angeles, the State Operas of Munich, Vienna and Hamburg, Opera North in England and the National Opera in Washington. In the Israeli opera, he conducted many productions at the Opera House as well as the productions of La Traviata in Rabin Square in Tel Aviv, Samson and Delilah, Nabucco and Rigoletto in Yarkon Park, Gani Yehoshua, which were seen by tens of thousands of spectators. Dan Ettinger has conducted all the leading orchestras in Israel, including the Israel Philharmonic and leading orchestras in Europe. Ettinger conducted a CD recording for the EMI company with the singer Diana Damrau and for the "Orfeo" company with the singer Adriana Pietzkona and the Berlin Radio Orchestra. His recordings with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Israeli Rishon LeZion Symphony Orchestra were also released. In the summer of 2015 he appeared for the first time at the Salzburg Festival when he won "The Marriage of Figaro" and was very successful and since then he has returned to win the festival.
Dan Ettinger was born in Israel in 1971. He studied singing at the Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv under the guidance of Tamar Rahum. As a baritone singer he performed with all the leading orchestras in Israel including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and in many roles in the Israeli opera, from the works of Monteverdi, through Mozart, Verdi to the works of Prokofiev. In 1993 he won the Francois Shapira Award and for years he won scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and scholarships from the Israel Institute of Singing. Dan Ettinger is a selected musician of the Israel Foundation for Cultural Excellence and was formerly one of the teachers of the Music Academy in Jerusalem and the School of Music at Tel Aviv University.
